EV Charger?

Post by vimar »

I wonder if the app could be expanded to control the Givenergy EV Charger?
If possible then it would negate my need to use the Giv Portal completely.

The GivEnergy EV charger works quite differently to their solar and battery equipment. Maybe someone could write a separate app just for the EV charger. Or I think Home Assistant might have some support for it.

I have a PodPoint Charger, and that has it's own app, which is pretty basic but has worked reliably for 5 years.

Because I don't have a GE Charger I don't think I would be well placed to write an app for it.

No idea how many chargers GE actually sold, it was quite a recent addition to the product line.

I have zero coding or app development knowledge, but I’d be willing to test on my GivEnergy EVC if someone else could make a stab at something? Worth mentioning I am an iOS user, but strongly considering setting up HA.

As per the email today from GE software, the GE charger should still keep operating OK.

I don't have an EV but you may find this intersting if you want local control of your GivEnergy charger https://community-beta.givenergy.cloud/ ... ad-on/5358
