Discharging times not respected

Post by pwdst »

There have been a couple of Savings Sessions recently and as I only control charging through PredBat I have tried using the Monitor for GivEnergy Inverter app to configure the export. On two occasions I have configured export between 20:00-21:00hrs only to find discharge was continuing long after nine, and only ended when the timer was disabled.

After the second occasion I toggled it back on again as a test and the export immediately resumed at the maximum rate, despite being after both the start and the end of the slot. As it is, and with our system, the app behaves as a binary toggle and does not allow scheduling.

I am probably going to dip into PredBat expert settings to configure forced export only for Savings Sessions so it likely isn't a showstopper for us, but I figure it is worth reporting in case it affects someone else.

Kit is Gen 1 3.6kW inverter and a single Gen 3 5.12kWh battery (which replaced two 2.6kWh Gen 1 batteries in case that is relevant).

The behaviour of the discharge timer varies according to which firmware is on the inverter, the older firmware starts with a 4 (e.g. 450) and the newer "fast response" firmware starts with a 1 (e.g. 193). It also matters if ECO mode is on or not.

For the savings sessions (which I am currently boycotting unless they offer at least 200 octopoints) I use the scheduler to turn the appropriate setting on and off at the right times. Whatever way you do it, you have to remember to disable it after the event, or it will happen again the next day.
